We've teamed up with TiiCo to offer Vanagon engines a complete makeover. We can install a brand new 2.0L 4 cylinder engine in your water or air cooled Vanagon. The VW® Jetta water cooled conversion engines are available for all models of Vanagons from 1983- 1991 and are designed to work with standard or automatic transmissions. With the extra effort of installing a radiator and plumbing, we can also revive an air-cooled Vanagon. What a great way to get more power with less maintenance and better gas mileage.

The conversion engines allow us to utilize your stock muffler and catalytic converter, while requiring no engine lid modification and keeping the van's ground clearance the same. It allows access to your dipstick and radiator overflow tank through the license plate cover. The engine comes with 12 month / 12K miles parts warranty. We actually make less money on a conversion engine, than on a vanagon engine rebuild, but we strongly recommend them due to the customer satisfaction they provide. We've done many installations and have received a great amount of positive feedback on them.

We know there is word on the street about some of the drawbacks of conversion engines. Among other complaints, we've heard they are slow and don't run smoothly. We insist on standing behind what we do at TW and looked into some of these rumors. Hands down we have found the problems arising with the conversion engines come from non-professional installations. Our owner, Sean, put one in his 1986 Westy in 2002. It has over 45,000 miles on it with no problems and he'd drive it anywhere.
