All pre-1967 (split window) buses can be converted to independent rear suspension. This allows for much better handling and safer driving. The images below show a converted 1965 Bus. The kit used is a bolt-in installation and uses beetle trailing arms, stub axles, and brake components. The conversion eliminates the need for gear reduction boxes, allows you to keep the stock height of the bus, and gives beetle transaxle gearing. In this bus, we also installed a Rancho freeway flyer transmission.
